Dr. Danielle Maia de Souza works as a scientific officer at the European Commission, Directorate General, Joint Research Centre, Institute for Environment and Sustainability. She has been carrying out research on Life Cycle Impact Assessment since 2005, mainly towards what concerns land use modelling with biodiversity indicators. During her PhD in Environmental Engineering, she developed a land use model which allows an easier global application, to what concerns data availability, and proposed characterization factors for different ecoregions in Brazil. She has also recently worked in the Universitaet Bayreuth, at the Professorship of Ecological Services, developing functional diversity indicators for LCIA.
