Dr. Kercheva is a Research Associated Professor and Head of Soil Physics Department of the Institute of Soil Science. She is an expert in soil water balance estimation. She has extensive experience in estimation of: agroecological risks related to soil water balance, such as drought, soil waterlogging, nitrate leaching out of the root zone in dependence of soil-climate interaction; soil physical properties for soil structure characterization. She has advanced computer skills in development of databases and applying simulation models. Dr Kercheva coordinates the Bulgarian part of the eContentplus Program Project GS Soil and was involved in a number of recent international Projects: DMCSEE, ENVASSO, SoilCritZone, SPADE2 and others.
