Biography
Timothy White is a Senior Research Associate in the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute and member of the graduate faculty in Geosciences at The Pennsylvania State University. He has a successful record of securing extramural support for sedimentary geological research in paleoclimatology, paleoceanography, and stratigraphy. Much of Tim's research has focused on paleosols that provide records of atmospheric hydrologic conditions during ancient greenhouse episodes.
Tim began to engage the Critical Zone community in 2004 through the Weathering System Science Consortium. He served a supporting role in creating the Critical Zone Exploration Network and was an active participant in SoilCritZone. More recently Tim has helped lead the U.S. Critical Zone Observatories as the national program coordinator and as a researcher at the Susquehanna-Shale Hills CZO in central Pennsylvania, and Plynlimon, Wales.
